Free Dog Walking Service

Does your dog need walking?

The Light of the World Trust provides a free dog walking service to those in receipt of state pension or Disability Living Allowance.

Our free dog walking service is rapidly expanding throughout the South East of England and the Midlands and is proving to be a genuine need for the elderly and disabled.

Health benefits of dog ownership

It is common knowledge that owning a dog provides great benefits in the following areas;

  • Loneliness
  • Isolation
  • Depression
  • Lowering blood pressure
  • Reducing stress
  • Companionship
  • Increased security

Volunteers that make a difference

Our current service users tell us of the huge difference the volunteers make to their lives and the wellbeing and health of their beloved dogs! They feel less guilty about being unable to provide long walks themselves.

Often we are contacted by vulnerable service users, therefore we ask our volunteers to provide two full references. We also contact their G.P’s to ensure they are mentally and physically fit before walking any dog.

Petting, scratching and cuddling a dog could be as soothing to the mind and heart as deep meditation and almost as good for the soul as prayer.
